The Disciples of Markos start the evening  with their renditions of classic Rebetiko songs from the 1930s. Rebetiko was the music of the Greek Underworld; songs of jail, hashish dens, knife fights, jealousy and other subjects from the seamy side of Athens. The Disciples play in the style of Markos Vamvakaris, the Godfather of Rebetiko and the heaviest bouzouki player of them all.

Next, music from the Greek Isles played by Agapi Mou. Fronted the fiery yet sublime violin of Aya Davidson, Agapi Mou has mastered a wide variety of Greek folk styles, as well as beautiful dance music from Macedonia, Armenia, Turkey and beyond.

The Helladelics play the hypnotic, bluesy material of Epirus, upbeat dance tunes from Thrace, lilting songs of the islands and the odd-meters of Macedonia, as well as tastes of Armenia and Turkey See you there!
